Jessie James released her debut album in August of 2009. The album was self-titled release. Jessie James achieved a reasonable level of success and had Wanted being able to make it into at the Top 40 charts. However while Decker was always as a singer from the country genre, the album was released and marketed with a pop audience in mind. Decker struggled to get more control over her music released after the two prior singles weren't well received. Decker made her debut album under two different titles: Sweet American Dreams or Daughter of a Gypsy. Mercury decided to put it back on the shelf after the first three singles fell in the country charts. Decker then was let be released from her contract.
